I worked at Catholic Charities for 18 years in their school and residential programs. I have over 25 years of experience working with children and families with a focus on trauma.
I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology and criminology from the University of Maryland, College Park. After graduating, I started working at Sheppard Pratt Hospital as a mental health worker on the inpatient psychotic disorders unit.
I grew up in Delaware and attended the University of Delaware for my undergraduate degree majoring in psychology and interpersonal communication.
I have worked in the medical field for over two decades now and I have been at Aspire since they opened in 2010.

My name is Sylvianne Akum, I am a Board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I went to college at Marymount University, where I studied Nursing and earned my Diploma degree.
I am a California native where I first began my journey into becoming a therapist with a bachelor’s degree in theatre and double minors in psychology and musical theatre at the University of Southern California, followed by a master's degree in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara.

Fatima Zia is a Pakistani-Afghan American who was born in NYC and raised in Maryland. She is passionate about increasing access for marginalized groups via holistic and interdisciplinary care models including Trauma-focused, IFS, Attachment-based, Mindfulness-based, and Person-centered.
I continued at Towson University to obtain my master of arts in clinical psychology.
